What airport do I fly into?
We love offering group transportation—it makes for a fun, seamless adventure that begins the moment you land. The closest airport to Ometepe Island is Augusto C. Sandino International Airport (MGA) in Managua, located approximately 83 miles (about 3.5 hours) from the retreat center. To catch the final ferry, our included group transportation will depart by 1:00 PM on March 23rd.
We recommend booking your flight to arrive no later than 11:30 AM on March 23rd. If you’re concerned about potential delays, consider arriving in Nicaragua a day early or booking the earliest flight possible that morning to ensure a smooth journey. Your return airport transportation is planned to depart the retreat center at 8:00 AM. While we prefer to finalize details once the majority of the group has formed—and may adjust times accordingly—we suggest booking departure flights after 1:00 PM to be safe.
If you’re traveling outside the group schedule, transportation will be your responsibility, though we’re happy to help coordinate alternative options. (Ps. It appears that Avianca Airlines currently offers the best value, with a carry-on and one checked bag included in the fare at no additional cost). To support your journey, you’ll also be invited to join a private Telegram group where you can ask questions, receive real-time updates, and connect with other participants. This space has proven invaluable in past retreats, creating ease, comfort, and community from the moment you arrive. Additional travel details will be provided in our private chat space.
Is Ometepe Island considered safe for travel?
Ometepe Island is a unique and stunning island located in Lake Nicaragua (also called Lake Cocibolca), in southwestern Nicaragua. It’s famous for its two majestic volcanoes—Concepción and Maderas—which form the island’s distinctive hourglass shape. Ometepe Island is widely regarded as a safe destination across Nicaragua. Both experienced travelers and local residents report a generally low crime rate—notably for such a rural, sparsely populated area.
What will the daily schedule be like?
Our daily schedule is thoughtfully crafted to nurture your nervous system and expand your heart-body-spirit connection. On our main page, you'll find a demo itinerary - a simple reference point to give you a taste of what’s to come. While the full experience will include more depth and detail, the demo offers a helpful preview. The complete daily schedule, along with important travel info and other details, will be sent out as we get closer to the retreat dates. If you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to support you every step of the way.
What will the menu be like?
The meals are organic, locally sourced, and lovingly prepared by our onsite private chef. Each dish is thoughtfully designed to be nourishing, healthy, and deeply satisfying, made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. On excursion days, you’ll receive a packed lunch to keep you fueled while out exploring. Additional offerings include fresh fruit, coffee, juice, and matcha tea. If you’d like extra snacks or personal essentials, there will be one group shuttle opportunity during the week to visit a local store. Meals are predominantly plant-based, with some meat, seafood, and poultry options available. We’re happy to accommodate vegan meals as best we can upon request. Every bite is crafted with love to support your retreat journey—from the inside out.
What are the included excursions?
Our retreat includes curated excursions for the adventurous at heart—offering a beautiful balance of play, nature, and cultural immersion. You’ll soak in the healing volcanic hot springs at El Ojo de Agua, wander lush jungle trails, and experience the breathtaking San Ramón waterfall. We’ll also explore the island by water with a group kayaking adventure, and by land with a guided horseback ride up the side of one of Ometepe’s majestic volcanoes. Each excursion is thoughtfully planned to complement the inner journey, helping you reconnect with nature, your body, and the spirit of adventure.
Can I explore off retreat grounds?
We will offer one group shuttle opportunity upon arrival to a local store - perfect for picking up any personal snacks or essentials. If you'd like to explore more of the island, you're welcome to do so by taxi, bike, or scooter, Ompete invites you to slow down, listen deeply, and savor the beauty in simplicity. A truly magical adventure awaits.
